Son of Ellis CALLER and Nellie nee CREW
His death registration shows he was 42 when he died in the State Hospital and Home, Liverpool, from the effects of deadly poison known as phenobarbitone tablets wilfully administered by himself on 11 July 1935 at Bondi. The inquest was held at Liverpool 10/4/1935. He was a grocer and his father Ellis was a dairy man. Mother's maiden name was Nellie Crew. His widow Ethel Lippett was living at Linosa Flats Bondi at the time. He was buried in the C of E Cemetery Randwick where the witnesses were Andrew Kennedy and JHB Rose. Born North Finchley, England and had been in NSW for 27 years. Married Ethel Caller when he was 22 and the children of the marriage were Dorothy 20 and John E 18 - both living.
At the time of death he was a grocer at Cabramatta who was bankrupt. It would appear he committed suicide after he had to appear at a hearing into his financial situation in July. On November 21, 1935 The Herald reported that the estate was assigned to creditors on July 9 last. Liabilities were shown as 1,005 Pounds and Assets as 358 Pounds. He died after the deed of assignment was made.
