Albert Henry Arthur was born in 1877 in Oxley, Victoria. His father was William Arthur and he had one brother called Frederick James Arthur who was also in the military in the 37th Battalion, he sadly died of wounds on 9 June 1917. Alfred Henry Arthur was also single. Alfred worked as a labourer until he moved to Rushworth, Victoria which is then became his home town and his religion was Presbyterian. Alfred’s service number was 523 as he went to WW1 for 3 years. He enlisted at the age of 39 on 25th February 1916. He was in the 37th Battalion, B Company. Alfred did not die in the war as he returned to Australia on the 12th June 1919. Alfred recieved a number of medals. The two main medals he recieved were the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Details of his death are unknown.
