Son of John Henry and Emma Bancroft, husband of Ivy A. Bancroft, "Truro", Bishop Street, Burwood, New South Wales
News to hand that Private Harry W Bancroft, of Burwood, and previously of Auburn, died of wounds in France on July 20. He saw service in Rabaul, and enlisted a year ago with his brother, George, who died at Liverpool Camp. Two other brothers were fighting in Gallipoli and are now in France. When he went away from Australia he was a company sergeant major in the 18th Battalion, but while in Egypt he transferred to the Machine Gun Section, foregoing his rank. He was 27 years of age and married. His father was the late Mr. J.H. Bancroft, well known in Parramatta, Granville and Auburn districts, and one of deceased's sisters is wife of Mr. S.M. Paris, of Auburn.
