12 Aug 1918: | Involvement AIF WW1, Private, 7310, 51st Infantry Battalion (WW1), Arrived aboard "Ormonde" to UK and was deployed to an unknown location in France on 12 Aug 1918. Evacuated to Hurdcott UK on 10 May 1919. Transported to Australia aboard "City of Exeter" in July 1919, and was hospitalised for about 1 month with Beri beri possibly in Darwin NT. | |
9 Sep 1919: | Discharged AIF WW1, Private, 7310, 51st Infantry Battalion (WW1), EC Hardey also enlisted and served in WW2 (#WX12157) becoming Japanese POW 1942 - 45 in Changi, Thailand and Japan. His father Edward James Hardey (#4126) was at "the Front" when EC Hardey enlisted on 27/8/1917, he may have been only 15 years old as his WW1 and WW2 records show a variation in year of birth. (1899 and 1902.) |
