Between 8 April 1919 to 8 October 1919 Alexander undertook a course to further experience blacksmithing with Charles Robertson Ltd of Horbury Junction, Wakefield, England but did not complete it

Commenced return to Australia on 1 August 1919 aboard HT Argyllshire diembarking on 22 September 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
