A pretty Wedding
On Wednesday, May 22nd, at St. Joseph's Church, Junee Miss Agnes Bridget Burke, youngest daughter of Mr. P. T. Burke, Junee, was married to Mr. Lancelot Lombe Brooke (Bank of New South Wales, Temora), only son of Mrs. A. M. Brooke, of Darlinghurst. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Gaffey, assisted by Rev. Father O'Sullivan (Wagga). The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a cream cloth and panne velvet costume, and cream velvet hat, with lancer plumes. She carried, a handsome prayer-book (the gift of the Sisters of Mercy, Junee). Her diamond and emerald ring and bangle were the gifts of the bride groom. The bridesmaid was Miss Pauline Burke (sister of the bride), who wore a corn flower blue velvet dress, with hat of velvet, trimmed with ermine. She wore a gold bangle, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. T. J. Ryan (Commercial Bank of Australia, Temora), acted as best man. The 'Wedding March' was played by Miss Crawley, and Mrs. Siebert sang Gounod's 'Ave Maria.' After the ceremony a reception was held at the Railway Refreshment Rooms. The numerous presents were both handsome and useful. Later in the evening the happy couple left by train for the South Coast where the honeymoon was spent. The bride's going away dress was a navy coat and skirt, with velvet hat trimmed with ermine.

Launcelot [Lancelot] Lombe Brooke, a son of Mr. Edward Lombe Brooke and Mrs. Annie Marie Brooke, was born in Sydney on 21 st September, 1884, and was educated at the Marist Brothers’ School at Parramatta. He entered the Bank's service on 29th July, 1901, at the Southern Branch, and in the course of the following eleven years served the Bank in various capacities at Wollongong, Penrith, Sussex Street, Rozelle, Parramatta, Junee, Cootamundra, Ariah Park, Temora, and West Wyalong.
He enlisted on 19th July, 1915, and embarked on 8th March, 1916, with the 15th Company of the 2nd Divisional Train, A.A.S.C.
He saw fifteen months’ service in France and Belgium, and was finally promoted to the rank of staff sergeant at the Australian Depot Headquarters, Tidworth, England, on 31st December, 1917. Here he was on the staff of the Assistant Director of Supply and Transport, and remained in that capacity until the Armistice. He returned to Australia on 15th May, 1919.

LANCELOT L. BROOKE
News was received today of the death on Monday of Mr. L. L. Brooke, aged 64, former Singleton Bank of New South Wales manager who, during a seven years' residence in Singleton, made many friends. Deceased left here in November 1936, transferring to Forbes, Western N.S.W., and later to Wangaratta, Victoria. While living in Singleton Mr. Brooke took an active part in many public activities. He was a fine townsman, and a loyal worker for the Catholic Church. Due for retirement in September, he arranged, owing to illness, to retire this month, after a long banking service.
Surviving Mr. Brooke, are wife, four sons, Jack, Paul, Lance, and Miles and three daughters, Mrs. Tony Enright (Maitland), and Mary and Helen, Helen was visiting Mrs. Enright at Maitland, when her father's untimely death occurred.
