Alfred Thomas OPIE was born in Geelong, Victoria in 1895

His parents were William OPIE & Marion THOMPSON

He married Doris Lilian CURTIES in Victoria in 1924

He enlisted in Melbourne on 9th September, 1915 & embarked from Melbourne on the HMAT Wiltshire on 7th March, 1916 with the 6th Infantry Battalion, 15th reinforcements - he returned to Australia as a Corporal with the 5th Australian Divisional Signal Company on 20th January 1919 and was discharged on 23rd September, 1919

Alfred died in Heidelberg, Victoria in 1973 & was cremated at Springvale Botanical Cemetery
