Mysterious Death Of 2 Patients
Two soldiers, both attendants at 11 3th AGH, died in unusual circumstances early today. Police are investigating. They were Herbert Hallam, 49, and Sylvester John Scullen, 34. Hallam, a chronic sufferer from malaria, complained yesterday to hospital officials that he was not feeling well. He was treated for malaria and given the day off. At 2 am today he became worse and was removed to a ward, where he died at 4 am. Scullen was found dead in bed in his hut at 6 am. Police have been told that Scullen was seen lying fully clothed on his bed at 10 o'clock last night. He was groaning, but as he had been known to groan in bed on previous occasions little notice was taken. A post-mortem is being held.
TWO SOLDIERS ON
A.G.H. STAFF DIE
Two soldiers on the staff of the 113th Australian General Hospital, Concord, died early yesterday morning. They were: Private Herbert Hallam. 49, Bedford Street, Newtown, and Private Sylvester John Scullin, 34, Victor Street, Kogarah. Police are satisfied that there were no suspicious circumstances connected With the deaths.
