He was 39 and the son of John and Agnes Richardson, of 106, St. Michael St., Dumfries.
He is one of three Australian casualties commemorated on the Dumfries Town memorial which stands outside St John's Church, Lovers Walk, Dumfries. It takes the form of a figure of Scottish soldier in service dress with head bowed and reversed rifle, on square granite monument with a fluted pillar at each corner. There are 216 men listed for World War 1 and 336 for World War 2.
