Michael CURTAIN was born in Violet Town, Victoria in 1892 and was working as a labourer in the Sunbury area when he enlisted in the AIF on 29/11/1916.
His next of kin was his mother, Mrs Norah McGann of Harker Street Sunbury.
Michael left Australia abouard the HMAT Ascanius on 11/5/1917 as part of the 22nd Battalion.
He served with this battalion through the remainder of the war and returned to Australia on 27/2/1919 and was discharged from the Army on 22/3/1919.
In 1922 he was working st the Sunbury Asylum as an attendant.
He died on 5/4/1943 and is buried at the Boroondara cemetery, Kew.
