Son of Samuel and Sarah ATKINS of Terranora, Tweed River, NSW
"Mr. S. Atkins, Dungay, yesterday received word that his son, Private A. J. Atkins, aged 28, died at the Base Hospital, London, on 19th March from pneumonic influenza. The deceased, was in the Uki P.O. for a time, and enlisted three and a half years ago. His death is made particularly sad by reason of the fact that he could have left for home some time ago, but generously gave way to a number of married men who wanted to leave urgently. His unselfishness has now ended in his death." - from the Tweed Daily 03 Apr 1919 (nla.gov.au)
