17 Dec 1917: | Honoured Military Cross, Third Ypres, For devotion to duty with resourcefulness and determination east of Ypres from 9 to 25 October 1917. He successfully completed a buried cable route up to Passchendaele Ridge between 11 and 16 October 1917, passing through extremely difficult and swampy country over which, owing to heavy shelling, it had been impossible to maintain ground lines. On 22 October 1917 he again displayed remarkable resourcefulness in repairing cables and keeping three Forward Observation Officers in touch with their Artillery Groups. | |

Awarded the Military Cross, 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in completing a buried cable route through extremely difficult country to the most forward position, where it had been impossible to maintain ground lines.' October 1917.
