Serving with a Training Squadron of the then RAF at Northolt in England, during a ferry flight on 1 March 1919, Sopwith Snipe aircraft E6157 flown by Lieutenant Hancock caught fire in flight and involuntary looped, throwing him from the aircraft and he was killed.
