John Lancelot Andrews

John was born in Taree, NSW and lived in Wentworthville before he enlisted.His mother's name was Amelia Andrews.Before he joined the army he worked as a clerk.

John enlisted in Sydney on 20 December,1916 aged 19 he embarked from Sydney on the HMAT Anchises A68 24th January,1917.He was killed in action in Polygon Wood,Belgium on 26th September,1917 when he was 16 years old. John was buried in the new Irish farm cemetery, St jean-les-Ypres, Belgium.

Private Andrews, enlisting at 15, was one of the youngest Australian Soldiers to die in the First World War.He is remembered on the Wentworthville Memorial park Honour Roll and the Blacktown RSL Memorial.
