Royal Henry Lackmann was the fourth and final child of Frederick Henry Lackmann and Caroline Elizabeth Lackmann (nee Payne.)

Royal Henry Lackmann was born in 1893 in Kaniva, Victoria. After he finished his schooling at around the age of 18 he joined the firm Elder, Smith & Co. at Bordertown in South Australia. He would remain there for a number of years.
Prior to enlisting in August 1915, he was manager of the Angaston branch of Elder, Smith & Co.

After returning from the war, Royal once again took up his position as a branch manager for Elder, Smith & Co. In 1919, he was made the Narrogin branch manager in Western Australia and moved states to live there.
On Monday September 6th, 1920 he married Mary Everingham, daughter of Mr and Mrs Canon Everingham at St Matthew's Anglican Church, Guildford by Rev. Gretereaux. They would later have two children.
A keen golfer, he was held in high esteem by the people of Narrogin. Tragically, after serving as the branch manager of Narrogin Elder, Smith & Co. for 16 years he died from contracting tetanus after being bitten by a sheep. He died at the age of 42 on 9 June 1935. He was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery after a large funeral service.
