Son of Isaac and Charlotte Ashton. Brother of Mary Emma Tye of Ryde, NSW. Brother of Percy Ashton who was killed in action on 2 August 1917 while serving with the 13th Field Artillery Brigade and is buried in the Brandhoek New Military Cemetery Plot 11, Row E, Grave 13

Private Isaac Ashton (killed) was a brother of Mrs. H. Tye, of Ryde, and 35 years of age. Educated at Fort Street School, he was a tanner by trade, and well-known in Queensland, but at the time of enlistment was in the employ of Messrs. Allen Taylor and Co., timber merchants, Glebe. The deceased was a good rlfle shot, and hls father on one occasion went within one point of winning the King's Prize. A nephew of the deceased, the only child of Mrs. Tye, is at the front.
