Son of William Alfred Hewish and Emma Louise Hewish nee Merry of Frost Street, Euroa, Victoria.
Brother of Francis Ivo Hewish who returned to Australia on 23 December 1918 having served with the 2nd Field Company and William Norbett Hewish who returned to Australia on 6 May 1919 having served with the 2nd Field Company Engineers
