Son of Michael Quinn and Catherine Quinn nee Lee of Hillmalblock formerly of County Limerick, Ireland Cardiff, Wales.
He previously served in the Royal Navy being discharged in February 1903 with the rank of Petty Officer.
Commenced return to Australia on 8 August 1916 aboard HT Marathon disembarking on 27 September 1916
