OBITUARY
MR. J.W. ANSON
Widespread regret will be felt at the announcement of the death of Mr. James William Anson, which occurred on Tuesday night.
The late Mr. Anson was an old and highly-esteemed resident of Camperdown, but had been in indifferent health for a long time.
He entered the Caulfield Military Hospital some months ago.
He was an employee of the Camperdown butter factory for many years, until failing health caused his retirement.
He enlisted with the 58th Bn.A.I.F., in the Great War, and served both in Egypt and France.
On returning from the war he took up farming pursuits at Geelong but was forced to relinquish that on account of his health.
The late Mr. Anson probably will be best remembered for his services to the cause of football throughout the district.
A keen follower of the game, he gave many years of loyal and unselfish service to the Camperdown Football Club, being president several years ago, and was one of the club delegates on the Hampden League. The game will be the poorer for his passing.
The late Mr. Anson is survived by his widow, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Morris, of Walls street, Camperdown, and by two daughters, Misses Laurie and Kathleen Anson, to all of whom the deepest sympathy will be extended.
The funeral will take place at the Camperdown cemetery this (Thursday) afternoon.
