George Watson enlisted at the age of 41. His marital status was single, and he listed his father (John Watson) as his next of kin. He embarked from Adelaide on the 12th of August, 1916. He landed in England after a month and a half of travel. He was was sent to the Finance Section of the Administrative Headquarters in London. George was given the rank of Temp. Corporal on the 11th of March, 1917. Then, on the 21st of December 1918 he embarked back to Adelaide and was discharged for being medically unfit (over age). George served for 3 years and 19 days before being discharged. He was given the British War Medal after his service. He died on the 3rd of February, 1937.
