He was born at 35 White Lion Street, London EC, England and at age 18 arrived in Australia. From the rank of Sapper in the 1st Field Company Engineers, he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant with the 36th Battalion, Australian Infantry, A.I.F.

He fell at Passchendaele, Ypres, Belgium aged 24.

He was the son of Alfred and Clara Cook, of 10, Benton Rd., Seven Kings, Essex, England.

In the United Kingdom, he is commemorated in the Ilford War Memorial Gazette and in the Ilford War Memorial Hall, Newbury Park, Ilford
