Frederick Washington George BESSELL was born in Brunswick, Melbourne, Victoria in 1890
His parents were Robert George BESSELL and Annie WHITEHEAD who married in South Australia in 1888
He enlisted in Blackboy Hill, Western Australia on 26th January, 1915 and embarked with the 11th Infantry Battalion, 4th reinforcements from Fremantle, WA on the ship HMAT Argyllshire on 19th April, 1915
Frederick was Killed in Action on 14th August, 1916 at Pozieres - no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
