'PERSONAL NOTES.
News has been received that Private "Bob" McLeod, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. McLeod of this district, died of pneumonia on January 15. His parents are old residents of the Darling Downs. Another son is in the firing line in France.' from The Brisbane Courier 24 Jan 1917 (nla.gov.au)

Died on this date - 14th January........Private Robert McLeod was born at Allora, Queensland in 1880. He served in the South African Boer War with 575 days Active Service.
Robert McLeod enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 27th May, 1916 as a 35 year old, single. Labourer from Mackay, Queensland. He was posted to “A” Company, 13th Training Battalion, Codford Camp, Wiltshire, England in December, 1916.
Private Robert McLeod died on the morning of 14th January, 1917 at 3rd Scottish General Hospital, Stobhill, Glasgow, Scotland from Lobar Pneumonia. He had been on 5 days leave but fell ill in Glasgow. He was buried in Western Necropolis Cemetery, Glasgow, Scotland where 10 other WW1 Australian Soldiers are buried.
