Later changed to his wife Jane Hogg nee McDowal of Tabernacle Terrace, Carmarthen, South Wales. William and Jane married on 25 October 1916 in the Carmarthen Congregational Church, South Wales. Minister D.J. Thomas officiated

Commenced return to Australia on 11 December 1918 aboard HT Saxon disembarking on 30 January 1919
