Bmdr Stanley Gordon Wise, killed in action, was attached to the 5th battery 2nd F. A. Brigade, 1st Division A.I.F. He was the son of Mr and Mrs J. M. Wise of Linton, and was born in Ballarat East. He attended the Golden Point State school and Town Mission Sunday School until the age of eight years, when his pa rents removed to Linton, where he finished his education at the Linton State school, under Mr A. J. N. Horan. He was working in Melbourne when war was declared, and enlisted and left with the First Expeditionary Forces as ammu nition driver in 3rd F. A. Brigade. From Egypt he went to Gallipoli, and was after wards transferred to France, where he was promoted to bombardier. He was officially reported killed in action on 16.8.17. His brother, Harold, is on active service in France.
