Son of Thomas and Catherine Taylor, Raphael enlisted for service at the age of 16 years and 11 months.
"...3935 Private Raphael Michael Taylor, 12th Reinforcements, 14th Battalion, of Oakleigh, Vic. Pte Taylor enlisted on 15 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ceramic on 23 November 1915.
