Son of Mr. Peter Mitchell and Mrs. Harriet Jane Bourne. George Charles Andrew Mitchell was a single, 18 year old Blacksmith when he enlisted on the 20th of September 1915. His service number was 8620. George had been serving in 77th Senior Cadets for 4 years prior and 3 months of Citizen Forces.
George embarked two months later, on the HMAT Persic on the 22nd of November 1915 departing from Melbourne, Australia. It is not known where George disembarked but his ship the HMAT A34 Persic traveled to the Mediterranean.
George was not injured during the war and later became a driver.
George remained in the war until he was discharged 4 years later on the 1st of August 1919.
George returned to Adelaide, he married a young woman named Jessie who he had 3 kids with, George sadly passed away on the 17th of August 1981 by a heart attack. George passed away in near his house in Daw Park, Mitcham City.
