William Duncan Bentley
BENTLEY, William Duncan. Trooper, No. 2311, 2nd Light Horse. He was born in Yetman, N.S.W., and was educated at Alpha. He is the son of John Bentley and Julia Bentley, of Alpha, Qld. Prior to enlisting he was a drover. Enlisted at Alpha in December, 1915, and went to camp in Brisbane. He was attached to the 2nd L.H., and sailed on the 28th March, 1916. He arrived in May, 1916. He was in action all through the campaign, and the Jordan Valley, Jerusalem, Jericho, Gaza, Bethlehem, and on to Damascus. He availed himself of the opportunity of learning book-keeping in England.
