A batchelor he worked before the Great War, World War One (WWI) in Mt Morgan for Briggs Auctionering, the Argus Newspaper and the Temperence and General Insurance.
He was one of the sons of John & Anne Brisbin (Brisbane) originally of Tyrone, Northern Ireland. His parents arrived and settled in Queensland 6 June 1879. Initially his father worked on the railway line between Clermont and Emerald. Later his father was employed at the Mt Morgan Mine becoming the Furnaces Boss and the family was raised there.
Lowry was a clerk by occupation. He was educated in Mt Morgan, Queensland at the Boy's State School Mt Morgan. Whilst at school he attained the rank of sergeant in the School Cadets.
On 29 August 1914 he enlisted at Rockhampton and went to Enoggera camp in Brisbane. He was one of three of the Brisbin family that joined and served in WWI (others were John Henry Ferguson Brisbin #2008 and William Richard Brisbin #2394. Lowry was attached to the 9th Battalion 1st Imperial Forces as a Private #785. He sailed on the A5 Omrah on 24 September 1914 for Egypt and arrived on 6 December 1914. Went to Mena Camp and left for Mudros Island on 20 February 1915 where he stayed until 24 February 1915 when he left for Gallipoli and took part in the landing at Gaba Tepe. He was only 21 years of age and was killed at the ANZAC landing.
He was originally in 'G' company under the original 8 companies 'A-D' which was reduced to 4 companies. He went into 'D' company. On the morning of 25 April, A and B company were the first wave to land with C and D coming shortly thereafter. He was killed before he reached the shore. He is listed amongst the dead on Lone Pine Memorial, panel 31.
He was posthumiously awarded the 1914/15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal, and the ANZAC Commemorative Medialion.
His watch was later recovered and returned to his parents in Mt Morgan, Australia. It arrived by dreadful co-incidence on his mothers birthday.
