On the 70 anniverary of the the allied victory at Villers Bretonneux the french government invited Mr Morrison to France to award him a Legion of Honour on 25 April 1988.

2214 Private Ronald James Morrison of Benalla, Victoria. Received the French Legion of Honour to mark the 70th Anniversary of the liberation of Villers Bretonneux. Served with 6th Battalion, present for the attack on "German Officer's Trench" at Gallipoli. Served from 1916 to 1919 with 1st MG Battalion 1st A IF.
