John Cuddeford RANDELL was born on 17th January, 1897 in North Adelaide, South Australia to Robert Michael RANDELL and Rebecca Twyman DURANT who married on 19th Sept, 1890 in S.A.
He had previous service of 4 years with the 80th , Senior Cadets and transferred to the 19th & 80th Infantry Battalions & was still serving when he enlisted on 31st August 1916 with the 10th Infantry Battalioin, 23rd reinforcements which left Adelaide on 16th December 1916 on HMAT Berrima
He was Killed in Action on 23rd July , 1918 in Merres, France and buried in Borre British Cemetery with a cross erected in his memory - he is also memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
John was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal
