Leonard COOPER was born in Hanley, Staffordshire, England on 8th January, 1901

His parents were Sydney Featherstone COOPER & Mary Ellen HIGGINBOTHAM

He first enlisted in Claremont, Tasmania on 12th December, 1916 & tried again on 11th January, 1917 - he  embarked  from Melbourne with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 28th reinforcements on the HMAT Port Lincoln on 22nd June 1917

Leonard returned to Australia on the ship Ulysses on 15th February, 1918 and was discharged as medically unfit due to epilepsy on 26th April, 1918

He married Angelina Georgina Isobel ELTRINGHAM on 3rd May, 1922 in Queenstown, Tasmania

He enlisted to serve in WW2 in the Army (SN N282006) on 29th October, 1941 and was discharged on 3rd December, 1947 - his last rank & unit were Corporal with the Directorate of Army Education, Australian Head Quarters

Leonard died in Sydney on 5th July, 1974 (late of Merrylands) and was cremated at Rookwood Crematorium in Sydney
