Clarence Reginald Burke NX4473
Clarence Reginald was the only son of George Henry and Augusta Burke (nee Clark). He was born on 27th April 1913. Clarence first served in the Middle East, leaving Australia aboard the "Kantara" on 4th March 1940 - he attained the rank of Corp'l on 14th June 1941, and Sgt. on 10th October 1941. He served with some distinction, mentioned in despatches during the period of February 1941 and July 1941 (London Gazette 30th December 1941). After serving in New Guinea, he returned to Australia. He was appointed to commissioned rank of Lieutenant and returned for service in Tarakan.
