Donald Craig FARMER was born on 3rd September 1922 in Mildura, Victoria
His parents were Donald FARMER and Maud Alice LAXTON
He was living in Angaston, SA when he enlisted in Adelaide on 28th April, 1941 - his posting on death was 55 Operational Base & had previous service with the College Cadet Corp. His brother Ralph Henry FARMER also served (RAN)
Flt/Sgt Farmer enlisted at Adelaide SA on 28 April 1941 and was killed in action when the aircraft in which he was a Wireless Air Gunner (WAG) flew into a mountain near Penfoei during a bombing raid on Timor on 9 July 1943. He was flying a Hudson A16-195 at the time
Mr. and Mrs. D. Farmer, of Angaston have been notified by the Air Board that their elder son, F-sgt. Donald C. Farmer, RAAF, who was previously reported missing on July 9 1943, following an operational flight over Timor, is now presumed to have lost his life on that date. He enlisted at 18 and saw service in 1943 at Milne Bay and Buna, flying the Owen Stanleys with supplies and bringing back wounded. In 1943 he was posted to No. 2 Hudson Squadron, Darwin. He was 20 and was educated at Nuriootpa High School and Scotch College. At the time of his enlistment be was on the staff of the Bank of Adelaide. A younger brother is serving with the RAN.
