Late Pte. C L BERRILL
Mr. W.A. Berrill, of Caltowie, has received notice of the death of his eldest son, Pte. C. Leslie Berrill, who was killed in action on December 3 last. The deceased enlisted in March last, and left for the front in April. After remaining in Egypt for five weeks he was drafted to France. He was exceedingly popular with his comrades. Born at Booleroo-Whim on January 11, 1880, he spent his boyhood in the Booleroo district. Later he was for 13 months employed at Woodville; then he farmed near Blyth. Immediately prior to his enlistment he resided at Port Pirie. During his stay at that port he was intimately connected with the Solomontown Methodist Church, and was a member of the Rechabite Lodge. He was a fine type of Australian Manhood, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a fine all-round cricketer, and also followed tennis, of which he was a capable exponent.
