Son of William Shardlow Brentnall and Emily Ann Brentnall of 'Carn Brea', Wetherill Street, Narrabeen, NSW formerly of 'Mona Vale' Manly, NSW; brother of Charles Frederick Brentnall who was killed in action at Zonnebeke, Belgium on 5 October 1917 while serving with the 23rd Machine Gun Company
