WW1 Australian War Graves in England/UK

Died on this date - 25th November (1918)......Gnr Herbert George Flaxman was born in 1888 in the district of Marrickville, Sydney, NSW. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 15th January, 1916 as a 27 year old Plasterer from Petersham, Sydney, NSW.

Gunner Flaxman arrived in England on 14th September, 1916 for further training before being sent to the Front. He was appointed as Saddler on 27th December, 1916 then proceeded to France on 8th January, 1917. He was transferred to 11th Field Artillery Brigade on 28th April, 1917 & remustered as Gunner.

Gunner Flaxman was on leave to UK from 19th December, 1917 & rejoined his Unit on 5th January, 1918.

Gunner Flaxman was on leave again to UK from 6th November, 1918. He was admitted to 2nd Western General Hospital, Manchester with Influenza on 10th November, 1918, whilst on leave.
Gunner Herbert George Flaxman died at 9 pm on 25th November, 1918 at Clyne House Military Hospital, Stretford, Manchester, Lancashire, England from Pneumonia.

He was buried in Southern Cemetery, Manchester, Lancashire, England where 15 other WW1 Australians & 1 Nurse are buried.
