Life Overview
Rex Underdown lived with his father Robert Underdown and mother Mabel Underdown (nee Pollard) at Birkenhead SA. They had a corner Deli know as Underdown Corner. The family moved to Meadows in the Adelaide Hills where they had a poultry farm.
Rex moved back to Adelaide and lived with his sister Audrey and her husband Dick Gould so he could complete his education at Woodville High School. Later the family moved back to Wigley street Largs Bay.
Rex then joined the Navy as a signalman and Served in New Guinea disarming the Japanese.
After the Navy he worked for the SA Railways at Islington. He then move to ICI at Osborne. Rex went back to the School of Mins and completed his Accountancy Degree. He then joined the Electricity Trust of SA (ETSA) at Osborne Power Station as a clerk. Rex transferred to Torrens Island Power Power Station as the Administration Officer.
After leaving ETSA Rex and his wife Valmai purchased a Deli on Military Road Largs North. After leaving the Deli he joined James Hardy on Victoria Road Largs North and computerised their pay system. He then retired and spent a lot of time fishing locally and on the River Murray.
