Allan John Jolly Born 12th of May 1917 Mother Margaret Preece
Father Francis Edward Jolly was born in Wolseley South Australia.
John did his schooling in Wolseley and grew up with his 7 siblings,sport was one of his great passions. He was named after his Late Uncle, Allan Preece who died in 1915 at Gallipoli .
John as he was known or Jack, was a very good sportsman who played Football and cricket for Wolseley John being youngest of 4, his other brothers Eddie, Ern, Arthur and Roy would all play Footy and Cricket for Wolseley.
As well as working for Transhipping with all his brothers at Wolseley it would be reason they would all leave Wolseley when Gauge size changed for trains going from Victoria to South Australia. In 1941 John with his Wife Auriel and Son Des would leave the District and move to Seacliff Adelaide . It would be here John would enlist in Royal Australian Airforce in 1941 .John was playing Football for Sturt(Marion) and cricket for them aswell. It is in 1941 when he would Play League Football for Glenelg Football Club.In 1943 John would leave for his War service in Darwin . John would be away from home for 2 years . On his return John and his Wife Auriel would live at Seacliff until 1952, With there Children Des,Trevor, Maureen,Marilyn and Raylene would then move to Darlington Adeaide. John would return to his Brighton cement Job, go back to his Sporting life with the Marion football Club and cricket clubs. John would become a Life Member Of Marion Football Club.In his time John would become a Life Member of 4 Cricket Clubs and 1 Football club.
He was a very handy country cricketer who took over 1000 wickets playing for Wolseley, Kybybolite, Marion, Tailem Bend, Happy Valley, Colonel Light Druids and Reynella, his last club, where an Honour Board in dedicated to him. John was keen on rabbiting which he had learnt while living in country Wolsely Southeast.
John passed away in 1980.
