Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks
“Hare-called Teddy-was wounded in the stomach on the night of July 22nd 1916, when we made a midnight attack at Pozieres. We took three lines and held them. It was quiet in the morning and I found him them, and told the stretcher bearers about him. He was conscious and said he knew he was finished. He was not taken down till about 10 or 11 o’clock on the morning of July 23rd. They got him to a dressing station, but I know nothing more.”
Cpl. E. Eaton 3308. C.Company.
Died of wounds at 3rd Casualty Clearing Station on 24.7.1916, buried at Puchevillers. Red Cross File.
