Son of Robert Ray Quail and Emily Quail nee Swan of Hope Street, Geelong West, Victoria. Brother of Norman Quail MC who returned to Australia on 8 June 1919 having served with the 11th Field Artillery Brigade.
Commenced return to Australia on 15 May 1919 aboard HT Orontes disembarking on 28 June 1919.
