Albert's parents were James George Batchelor and Jane Baker. Albert was the youngest of nine children when he enlisted in Brisbane on 8 September 1915. Albert returned to Australia after the war and married Maud Maryann Lingard in January 1923. They initially settled Landsborough and eventually moved to Woodford. Albert died aged 74.
