Biography

C. H. Gibson, possibly 31525 Private Christopher Lundie Gibson, 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column who was a 31 year old clerk from Unley, South Australia when he enlisted on 5 October 1916.

He cited his Father, Mr J Gibson, Hamley Bridge, South Australia as his next of kin

He was resident at Hillecoat Street, North Unley, South Australia

A member of the Adelaide Rowing Club, his image has been sourced from the Club's Honour Board. He embarked for overseas with the 7th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 23 December 1916 aboard RMS Orontes. After seeing action in France with the 5th Division Artillery, he finished the War assigned to Headquarters Base Depot and returned to Australia as a Temporary Sergeant on 7 September 1919.

After the war he joined the RSL on 9 April 1924 and was a Member of State Branch.  He cites an affiliation with the 51st Battalion.  He married Olive and they were resident at 71 Victoria Terrace Kingswood.  He died in July 1962 aged 77
