History
Sidney Patrick Daly was born in Broken Hill NSW on the 14th November 1915. He was educated at Marist Brothers College at Broken Hill and was not allowed by his father to work in the mines as his brothers already did. Most of the brothers suffered lung complaints due to their work. Sidney worked as a jackaroo in various locations around NSW as well as selling insurance in Broken Hill. He married his wife Myrtle in Broken Hill and moved to Adelaide. He was enlisted into the Army on 6th March 1941 as a Private and after several requests was discharged from the Army on 19th July 1943 and subsequently enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on the 20th July 1943.
He served as a diesel engineer working on equipment used to make landing strips on various islands. His service record is as below

Sidney then went on to work at Coca Cola Adelaide as a paymaster for over thirty years. He had five children, four boys and a girl. At the time that he died he had seven grandchildren.
