Private Casualty Advices
Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Dowling, of Port Hughes, Moonta, late of Malvern, have been advised that their youngest son, Flt-Sgt. G. E. Dowling, 20, is presumed to have lost his life in air operations over St. Leu D'Esserent, France, on July 5, 1944. He was injured on May 11, 1944, in a crash in Nottingham. He was educated at Moonta primary and Unley high schools. He was a member of the Model Aero. Club, and joined the ATC in 1941, when he was employed in the drawing office at General Motors-Holdens. There are four brothers—Sgt. Ken. Dowling, AIF, in New Guinea; Harry Dowling, RAAF, discharged; Bdr. Peter Dowling, AIF, missing; and Flt-Lt Jack Dowling RAAF, retd.—and two sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Dowling, of Port Hughes, formerly of Malvern, have been advised that their youngest son. Flt-Sgt. Ted Dowling, RAAF, is missing from an operational flight over France on July 5. After training in Australia he left for England in August last year. Another son Peter, RAAF, has been missing for two and a half years in Rabaul. Mr. and Mrs. Dowling have five sons in the services. The others are Cpl. K. E. AIF, northern zone; H. A. RAAF, discharged; FO J. E. RAAF, returned.
