He was 21 and the son of Phillip John and Mary Griffith of North Adelaide, South Australia.
Flight Sergeant Griffith was killed when Wellington III (Z1721-W) aircraft caught fire and crashed at Compton Wynyates. It had taken off from Chipping Warden and he was part of 12 OTU.
Advice has been received that Sgt-Pilot Hugh Griffith was killed in an aircraft accident at Edge Hill, England, on June 16, while at an officers' training unit. Before enlisting he was employed by Taxation Services (SA), Ltd.. Adelaide. He was the son of Mrs. M. Griffith, of Hill street, North Adelaide, and the late Mr. P. Griffith. An elder brother is an army officer, and a younger brother is in the RAAF.
