Son of Percy Edwin and Emma Groves; husband of Marjorie Groves, of Parkside, South Australia.
James Reginald Groves enlisted in the RAAF on 14 November 19144. He was a married 28 year old Painter and Decorator from Fullarton, SA and had joined as a Technical trainee.
While James was travelling to recruit training he became unwell and was admitted to 5 RAAF Hospital at Tocumwal where he was placed on the 'dangerously ill' list. Aircraftman Groves died the following day on 27 November 1944 from illness.
