Dad
He was born and raised in Broken Hill , the youngest child of well to do parents. Eighteen months of his high school education were spent at Prince Alfred College, where, unfortunately, he failed to excel. His exam results showed that he was not a high achiever at school.
Most of his working life was spent in State Government employment, firstly with the Municipal Tramways Trust as a bus conductor and latterly with the SA Housing Trust. These jobs followed a period of time during World War II in the RAAF, during which time he served overseas in the Borneo region.
He enlisted in the RAAF (Service Number 140047) on 20 April 1943 in Adelaide and was discharged on 16 April 1946 with the rank of Leading Aircraftsman and the posting of Area Finance Officer, Adelaide.
Disabilities resulting from his war service led to him being granted a TPI Pension from the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs.
He was appointed a Justice of the Peace on 11 August 1960.
