Leading Aircraftman Douglas Ross JOHNS was born at Broken Hill on 17 Jan 1925. He died at the same place on 07 Apr 1976
Leading Aircraftman Douglas Johns enrolled as a cadet into the Air Training Corps, 74 Squadron, B Flight, Broken Hill NSW on the 23rd February 1942.
On the 24th September 1942 he joined the Air Training Corps No.4 Cadet Wing & on the 15th February 1942 Douglas applied to join the R.A.A.F as an airman.
On the 8th day of April 1943Douglas was discharged from the No.4 Cadet Wing and enlisted at No.5 Recruitment Centre, Adelaide, SA, into the Royal Australian Air Force as a Clerk Stores Assistant. He was promoted to Leading Aircraftman on the 6th of February 1944 and trained at the No. 4 School of Technical Training from the 16th of May until the 7th of June 1944.
On the 7th of June 1944 Douglas was transferred to Victoria Barracks, R.A.A.F Headquarters, Melbourne Vic for 5 months.
On the 19th of November 1945 Douglas was transferred to No. 23 Operational Base Unit, detachment “A’ 8 Store Depot, R.A.A.F Station, Garbutt, Townsville, QLD where he spent his service until demobilization.
Leading Aircraftman Douglas Johns was discharged from the RAAF on the 9th day of April 1946.
