Son of Mr and Mrs W.G. KERR of 231 Payneham Road, Joslin, SA. Married with three children and residing at 1 Wall Place Norwood, Ronald was interested in all outdoor sports. He played football for the Port Lincoln Centrals and 'Kirtoniaries' for some time. In civilian life he was a baker working at the bakery of M.G. KERR (his father) for some years, and then transferred to Adelaide continuing in the bakery trade. Ronald enlisted in May 1941 and trained in Victoria.
